The Realtor also known as a real estate broker or real estate salesperson (often called a real estate agent) is a person who acts as an intermediary between sellers & buyers of real estate/real property. Their mission is to complete a transaction between the buyer and seller.

In countries like the United Kingdom, an estate agent is a person or business entity whose business is to market real estate on behalf of clients.

Also in the US, real estate brokers and their sales persons who assist owners in marketing,selling, or leasing properties are commonly called "listing brokers".

Having said that let's look at the roles of a realtor.

The roles of the realtor includes:

1). Provide guidance and assist sellers and buyers in marketing and purchasing property for the right price under the best terms.

2). Determine clients’ needs and financials abilities to propose solutions that suit them.

3). Intermediate negotiation processes, consult clients on market conditions, prices, mortgages, legal requirements and related matters, ensuring a fair and honest dealing.

4). Perform comparative market analysis to estimate properties’ value.

5). Display and market real property to possible buyers.

6). Prepare necessary paperwork (contracts, leases, deeds, closing statements etc).

7). Manage property auctions or exchanges.

8). Maintain and update listings of available properties.

9). Cooperate with appraisers, escrow companies, lenders and home inspectors.

10). Develop networks and cooperate with attorneys, mortgage lenders and contractors.

11). Promote sales through advertisements, open houses and listing services.

12). Remain knowledgeable about real estate markets and best practices.

To stay relevant,succeed and become sought after as a realtor, some of the skills you will need are :

1). Independence: Real estate agents must manage their own time and schedules, making sure they are hustling to get the word out about properties and find the information their clients need.

2). Interpersonal Skills: Agents work with clients and customers face-to-face on a daily basis. Listening to their needs and communicating effectively and pleasantly is a needed skill.

3). Persuasion: Skilled real estate agents are good at convincing clients to buy and sell properties at the right price, and use persuasion to close deals.

4). Problem-Solving Skills: Real estate agents need to quickly find answers to their client's questions. This also includes being a mediator between sellers and buyers.
